2018 Vinous Obscura 'Apini' Fiano x Semillon (orange)
Our ‘Apini’ is a co-fermentation of 50% Fiano and 50% Semillon. The Fiano is the first ever planting of that grape in Oregon. Soaked on their skins for 21 days, this orange wine tastes like honey, apricots, and beeswax.
Not Just Another Orange Wine 🐝
I absolutely love orange wines. My first encounter was at the Amelie Wine Bar in San Francisco, circa 2010. I asked the French waiter for something interesting….I had been up in Napa all day tasting and wasn’t feeling particularly inspired. What he poured me had me question my entire wine experiences up until that point in time. The wine was from Georgia, it was the 2009 Rkatsiteli from Pheasants Tears. Since then, I have been a staunch proponent of orange wines. Our ‘Apini’ is a co-fermentation of Fiano and Semillon. The Fiano is the first ever planting of that grape in Oregon. It’s the bees knees, honey.
