2019 Vinous Obscura 'Blaü-Ökör' Hungarian Red (co-fermentation)
Our Blaü-Ökör (Blue Ox) is another first in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. This is a co-fermentation of traditional Hungarian grapes that were recently planted in the hills above Forest Grove. This mix of grapes is common in many of the famous red wines from Hungary. Some of these grapes are planted in the Northwest for the first time. This has incredible freshness, it screams of blue fruits and a spice that comes from our loess and volcanic soils.
YOU’RE MY BOY, BLUE! 🐂
This low alcohol red wine is a stunner. It’s got an incredible deep blue/garnet color, blue fruits and flowers aromatics, and a clean refreshing finish. This is a highly enjoyable, easily drinkable red wine. Our Blaü-Ökör is another glimpse into the great potential of these Hungarian red grapes in the dynamic regions within Oregon and the Willamette Valley.
