Wild Strawberry 🍓 & Pine 🌲
The quest to plant Pinot Noir wasn’t just happening in the Willamette Valley back in the mid-1970’s, it was also happening on both sides of the Columbia River in the Columbia Gorge. At the suggestion of Dr. Walter Clore, these own rooted Pinot Noir vines were planted on the Oregon side of the mighty river west of The Dalles. This vineyard was planted exclusively to the Swiss clone known as Mariafeld. This clone is cold hardy and highly disease resistent, making it a great candidate for the extreme weather in the Gorge.
